Central to the modus operandi of Identitarians in recent years, in line with our metapolitical approach, has been a focus on building our own counter-cultural scenes within mainstream popular culture. Last year this extended into the gaming world with German art collective and developers KVLTGAMES, releasing Homeland Defender: Rebellion. It’s obvious these guys recognise the power of humour in getting the message across – the game is a tongue-in-cheek, Retro-style adventure where our heroes – real-life European patriots Martin Sellner, Alex Malenki, Outdoor Illner and Götz Kubitschek do battle with the forces of Globalism including, no less, a baddie from Drag Queen Story Hour!
On its release the game drew the predictable derision, baseless criticism and de-platforming from the left, media and establishment, but now Homeland Defender has been ‘indexed’ in Germany meaning it cannot be advertised or sold to minors. Needless to say, (as is ever the case from the Identitarian milieu) the game does not advocate hatred or violence of any particular class of people, so it is clear this is another example of politically motivated censorship. It would appear that gore fests, the zombie apocalypse and riotous pro-Antifa themed games are good to go, but woe betide anyone who casts brick-throwing communists in the role of baddies – or worst still parodies Drag Queen Story Hour…
Projects and collectives like KVLTGAMES are popping up all over these days and we are witnessing the growth of an energised and inventive patriotic cultural scene that has the potential to precipitate lasting political change. We know the people that bought us Homeland Defender won’t be deterred – we know who the good guys are, and they always win in the end.
